FREELANCE WRITER/JOURNALIST/EDITOR
I have worked for multiple, mainly local and Canadian publications and I am currently working on expanding my portfolio internationally. I started off in journalism and have since become more invested in literary work, analysis and criticism. Occasionally, I have individual clients.

MANAGING EDITOR
I conduct both phone and email interviews for magazine features, often from people who live overseas and are hard to reach. I am frequently involved in copy editing and offering input on magazine content. I am responsible for time management by tracking my own hours.

THE DALHOUSIE GAZETTE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
I oversaw a team of four section editors and a copy editor, producing the Dalhousie University bi-weekly campus paper during the school year. My responsibilities included managing story ideas, working with our page designer on the paper layout and supervising the podcast.

NEWS EDITOR
I worked with a team of editors and the editor-in-chief to produce the Dalhousie University student newspaper. I was responsible for mentoring student writers, assigning and editing their work. I uploaded articles onto our WordPress site. In addition, I contributed pieces for my own section.

STAFF REPORTER
I took on a variety of responsibilities during my contract position at Halifax’s alt-weekly newspaper. I wrote for all sections of the paper, including beats such as politics, arts and business. I was responsible for copy editing a portion of the paper each week before section editors had their last looks. I also uploaded and scheduled the articles on The Coast’s website.
